The IS2H4C consortium gathered in Graz, Austria, from 23 to 25 September 2026 for its 6th General Assembly, hosted by AEE INTEC. Three days of presentations, workshops and a facilities visit brought partners together to review progress, address challenges and set priorities for the next six months.
General Assemblies provide an important opportunity to connect the different parts of IS2H4C. With activities spanning four demonstration hubs and multiple areas of research and implementation, meeting in person helps partners understand how their work fits together and where closer coordination is needed.
In Graz, discussions combined an overview of developments with practical exchanges on the challenges partners are facing and the steps needed to keep activities moving forward.
Comparing progress across the four hubs
A central part of the meeting was reviewing developments across the IS2H4C hubs in the Netherlands, Germany, Spain and Türkiye.
Looking at their progress side by side allowed partners to exchange experiences and discuss the different conditions shaping implementation at each location. Although the hubs share the ambition of advancing industrial symbiosis and circularity, each operates within its own industrial and regional context.
These exchanges helped partners identify where experiences from one hub could inform work in another, while recognising the specific challenges that require local solutions. They also provided a clearer picture of how activities across the hubs contribute to the project’s overall objectives.
Working through challenges together
Alongside progress updates, the General Assembly created space for open discussion about setbacks, dependencies and areas where additional support or coordination is needed.
Presentations and internal workshops gave partners the opportunity to work through these issues together, share their expertise and align on the next steps. This collaborative approach is essential for a project that brings together technological development, industrial demonstrations, digital tools, governance and business models.
The discussions helped establish shared priorities for the next six months, giving partners a clearer direction for their ongoing work and the connections they need to maintain across the consortium.
Exploring AEE INTEC’s work on the ground
The programme also included a visit to AEE INTEC’s facilities, where partners learned about different projects and initiatives and saw the organisation’s work first-hand.
The visit brought a practical perspective to the meeting, complementing the presentations and workshops with an opportunity to explore the host’s research activities and exchange questions with the people involved.
It also created further space for conversations between partners, connecting the formal meeting discussions with examples of work taking place on the ground.
Moving forward from Graz
The 6th General Assembly brought the consortium together around a shared understanding of progress, current challenges and priorities for the months ahead. The exchanges in Graz will support continued coordination as partners advance their work across the four Hubs for Circularity.
